October 13, 2018
IWFCT's 2018 grant went to the STEM program for the Girls Scouts of Connecticut.  Through the grant, High School Girl Scouts participated in a Cyber Agent program at the University of New Haven.  The program was specially designed by University Professor Abe Baggili and 6 of his graduate students (all women) to introduce High School level girls to potential careers in Cybersecurity.  Professor Baggili stressed to the girls that expertise in Cybersecurity is essential to our national security and all businesses in the US and the great need for qualified professionals to fill millions of jobs in the years to come.  He also stressed that women, as well as men, should be preparing now to fill the job pipeline in this area.

The program was very “hands on” giving the girls the real life experience of solving a cybercrime and catching a cybercriminal through a well-crafted virtual simulation
